Known as the “Pearl of Africa,” it features diverse landscapes ranging from tropical forests to vast lakes and mountains. Its economy is based on agriculture, services, and growing energy and tourism sectors.
Uganda lies within the Great Lakes region and includes much of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake. The country’s terrain features the Rwenzori Mountains in the west and fertile plateaus supporting agriculture. Its equatorial climate supports rich biodiversity, including mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and chimpanzees in Kibale National Park.
The country has diverse ecosystems, including lakes, mountains, forests, and savannahs. It is home to Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa, and the source of the Nile River. Uganda’s economy is mainly based on agriculture, with coffee being a major export. Tourism is also important, especially gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The population is culturally diverse, with many languages, traditions, and ethnic groups contributing to its vibrant heritage.
