Malaysia is a Southeast Asian country located partly on the Malay Peninsula and partly on the island of Borneo. It is known for its diverse culture, tropical rainforests, and rapidly developing economy. Malaysia plays a key role in regional trade and diplomacy within ASEAN.
Malaysia is a federation of 13 states and three federal territories under a constitutional monarchy. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong serves as head of state, while the prime minister leads the government. Its political system blends parliamentary democracy with a rotational monarchy among nine hereditary rulers.
The Malaysian economy is one of the most dynamic in Southeast Asia, driven by manufacturing, services, and natural resources. Key exports include electronics, palm oil, petroleum, and rubber. Over recent decades, Malaysia has diversified from agriculture to a high middle-income, export-oriented economy.
Malaysia’s multicultural society includes Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous communities, contributing to diverse languages, religions, and cuisines. Islam is the official religion, but freedom of worship is constitutionally protected. Major festivals such as Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, and Deepavali reflect its cultural pluralism.
